I've been a diehard fan of the Redskins since I was born! It was our local team for years until the Ravens came along. Then we had a huge bandwagon leap from what were Redskins fans to Raven's fan. I can sort of understand. I mean the Ravens did win a Superbowl sometime not too long ago and the Redskins, well, let's just say their mediocrity over the last few years is enough to drive any hardcore fan away. But not me! I will stay true! I've been dying to see the Redskins bust out of their slump and go back to the days of the Hog-ettes, John Rigger, and Art Monk. Where the song "Hail to the Redskins" was played more than the National Anthem!
Now last year I would have bitched and moaned of how pitiful the Redskins were and how they were such a let down of a team. I had been fed up with their lack of enthusiasm, their lack of trying, and downright poor playmaking! But watching preseason this year is giving me a glimmer of hope. Younger players are taking on large roles and are enthusiastically doing so. I know it's just preseason so I won't get too ecstatic, but come on, they look damn good so far! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the year I've been waiting for!
